FAQ
They are easier to learn than you'd think! With proper instruction, it's possible to learn in around 8-10 hours (~1-2 weeks of consistent practice).
To put this in perspective, this is less time than it takes to learn juggling, unicycling, or ollies on a skateboard.
Not any more dangerous than skateboarding or rollerskating!
Being free from your skates allows you to easily bail into a walk/run and is a game-changer when it comes to avoiding falls!
If you're careful about keeping your knees bent and legs spread in a stable stance while learning, it's very likely you'll be able to jump off and get clear of the relatively small profile of your freeskates before experiencing a fall.
As always, it is important to wear proper safety gear. The two biggest would be wrist guards and a helmet.
Unfortunately, no. We cannot accept used skate returns if they are not faulty.
Everything we do at JMKRIDE is in the name of the wonderful sport of freeskating. So it pains us to hear of people giving up and letting their skates gather dust. If there is anything we can do to help with your learning journey, please reach out to us either via social media or at jmkride.com/contact-us.
Not exactly. The sport was originally called 'side skating' and was invented in 2005, by a company called 'Freeline.' All four of our JMKRIDE cofounders worked for Freeline, and when it unfortunately went out of business, JMKRIDE was born from the ashes. (JMK standing for Jon, Mattie, Marco, and Kyoki) In a time when the global community was sadly dissolving, JMKRIDE was driven to keep this wonderful sport alive. We consulted with the best freeskaters around the world and expertly crafted our flagship skate to be the best freeskate ever made. By sponsoring riders, hosting events, and using social media, we are continuing in our goal of uniting and uplifting our growing global community of freeskaters.
